The Child Life Specialist promotes the optimum development of children and adolescents through individual and group activities, which facilitate and/or enhance developmental, psychosocial, and recreation needs of children and adolescents. The Specialist educates, advocates for, and maintains a therapeutic milieu appropriate to the varying developmental, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and/or families. The Specialist develops and implements interventions, which promote mastery, self-expression, and adaptive coping for patients and family members.
The Recreational Therapy Assistant for the Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress (CCFTS) is responsible for assisting in implementing a recreational therapy program for children seen at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. This position requires the incumbent to be bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards.
