The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner I functions as a healthcare provider, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, to provide psychiatric/mental health care to patients. This position educates patients and/or intervenes in acute or chronic mental illness, and practices within department and Kennedy Krieger Institute guidelines in accordance with State of Maryland Nurse Practitioner Regulations. The Recreational Activities Aide assists staff in the implementation of developmentally appropriate play activities and manage behavior. The position’s role is to work as part of a team to maintain a safe, therapeutic, and positive play environment for the patients in the Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program playrooms.

The Recreational Activities Staff II (Behavioral) plans and implements behaviorally oriented and developmentally appropriate activities which support the patient during the Feeding Program Admission.  The Recreational Activities Staff II is responsible for providing observation, assessment, and programming for patients, and relevant caregivers training during the admission to the Feeding Program.

The Neurobehavioral Unit (NBU) is a unique, 16- bed unit dedicated to the assessment and treatment of children and young adults with severe, treatment-resistant behavioral disorders. The NBU serves patients with a variety of diagnoses, including: autism spectrum disorder, developmental delay, intellectual disability, sleep disorders, seizure disorders, feeding disorders, stereotypic movement disorder with self-injurious behavior, and various genetic, metabolic and chromosomal disorders.
