Overview: Located in Baltimore, MD., Kennedy Krieger Institute is an internationally recognized institution dedicated to improving the lives of children and adolescents with pediatric developmental disabilities and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and musculoskeletal system, through patient care, special education, research, and professional training. The Kennedy Krieger Schools serve students with a variety of psychiatric disorders and disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders. The age range served is 5 through 21.
Responsibilities: This position is at our K-8 program located on the Fairmount campus in East Baltimore, serving students ages 5-14. The position entails providing psychiatric evaluations and direct medication management for students on the caseload, including classroom observation and individual meetings with students, communication with parents, and communication with the school team and Medical Director. Attending team meetings may occur as needed and if they fall within the agreed upon schedule. The scheduled hours and days are negotiable. Supervision will be provided by the Medical Director.

The Psychologist I will provide psychotherapy for children and adolescents served through the Psychiatric Mental Health Program in close coordination with The Tourette Syndrome Center of Excellence at Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Medicine (TCOE). The psychologist will implement Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) with patients referred through the TCOE as well as other referred patients. The psychologist will maintain a clinical caseload including individual and family psychotherapy, diagnostic assessments, parent training, and, counseling in child development and behavior management. The Psychologist assists parents or caregivers in advocating for their children’s needs in the community. Primary clinical responsibilities will be for individuals aged 5 years through young adulthood.
The Psychologist I will conduct research developmental assessments with research participants, code research data, conduct inter-rater reliability trials, prepare summaries of research assessments for families, make appropriate clinical referrals where appropriate, supervise research assessments, and other related research activities.
The Kennedy Krieger Institute Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress in Baltimore, Maryland has an opening for a Psychologist I to provide clinical care to children and families affected by violence, maltreatment, and other trauma. The clinical duties of a Psychologist I include conduct psychological evaluation ranging from screenings to full psychological evaluations, provide psychotherapy to children through individual, family, or group modalities as appropriate, and participate in the psychology training program. The position includes opportunities to supervise doctoral-level and postdoctoral trainees in the Center’s APA accredited training program. Faculty appointment at the affiliated Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is available for psychologists with demonstrated interest in research, teaching, and the pursuit of clinical leadership and expertise.
The successful applicant will have had at least one year's supervised post-doctoral experience in clinical psychological work with children, preferably in a community or hospital setting with children who are traumatized, severely emotionally disturbed, or who have experienced abuse/neglect. Applicants must have clinical practice experience with marginalized communities and people of color.
