The Financial Analyst I independently performs a variety of financial tasks in the areas of budgets, finance and reporting. General activities include account reconciliations, analyzing and reporting on financial data, preparing federal applications and developing ad hoc reports to support the Financial Director. Positive interaction and communication with other team members is essential to this position.
1. Assist with the preparation and filing of the Medicare Cost Report, including cost reports and other financial reports pertaining to updates in square footage statistics, development and implementation of a tracking system for interns and residents for inclusion in the cost report, and preparation and submission of target rate exception requests as needed.
2. Participate in the submission of Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program applications, to include ensuring that all applications are completed and submitted in a timely manner in coordination with the Training Administration office.
3. Assist in the Institutes’ Annual Budget Process and perform ongoing monthly analysis of the departmental revenue and expense budget in comparison to actuals for review with various financial managers.
4. Assist with the preparation and submission of Federal 990’s (i.e., not for profit tax returns) ensuring compliance with Accounting Firm requirements.
5. Perform treasury functions such as daily cash monitoring, investment performance reporting, preparing draws on funds for construction in process, etc.
6. Prepare internal management reporting package for inpatient and outpatient departments and perform financial analysis on a monthly basis.
7. Help satisfy external reporting and survey requests for Institute financial information.
8. Prepare and enter assigned monthly journal entries for monthly investment activity and other patient accounting activity.
9. Update, analyze, and reconcile assigned balance sheet account reconciliations.
10. Participate in the completion of the annual audit of the Institute’s consolidated financial statements
11. Review the Institute’s monthly financial performance and complete a variety of financial analysis and reporting as needed.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field, required.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years of experience in a financial analyst or related role required.
