Overview

The Occupational Therapist will perform home/community-based therapy, center-based therapy, and/or telehealth in the Child and Family Support CenterThe incumbent will provide evaluation, treatmentcaregiver training, and subsequent planning, execution, and supervision of therapy programs to assist in the development of fine motor, visual motor, oral motor/feeding, adapted living skills and sensory processing for children with developmental disabilities and their families. This position must demonstrate the ability to solve a variety of treatment problems in multiple environments with periodic supervisionmust demonstrate clinical competence in an area of clinical interestand must participate in intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary training programs related to the area of clinical interest. The incumbent will contribute to program development, evaluation, and performance improvement, and they may supervise occupational therapy students/trainees as assigned by department leadership.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide ongoing home based, center-based, or telehealth occupational therapy, caregiver training, and family support services utilizing a range of techniques to engage children and families. 
  2. Provide home-based, community-based, center-based, and/or telehealth occupational therapy assessments for children. Work cooperatively with families to determine concerns, goals, and an intervention plan. 
  3. Initiate and maintain contact with referral sources and other Kennedy Krieger Institute/ community providers to assist in the coordination of services and to foster productive relationships in the community. 
  4. Demonstrate clinical expertise in an area of clinical interest and function as a mentor in this area of specialization. 
  5. Meet all assigned revenue goals and complete all paperwork in a manner consistent with Institute and departmental expectations, as well as the guidelines established by The Joint Commission and AOTA. 
  6. Function as a member of the Child and Family Support Center through active participation in team conferences and meetings, and providing technical assistance, training, and support to other team members 
  7. Initiate and participate in projects which contribute to the growth of the Child and Family Support Program (e.g., groups, workshops, special projects, and trainee supervision). 

Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Maryland. 
  • Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. 

 

EDUCATION: 

Master’s degree in an approved occupational therapy program required. 

 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum three years of licensed experience in Occupational Therapy, with at least two years documented experience in area of specialtyrequired. 
  • Experience in pediatrics and/or rehabilitation and treatment preferred. 
  • Experience in coordinating community services preferred.
