Overview

The Spanish Bilingual Planning Coordinator I is a member of Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Child and Family Support Program. The Spanish Bilingual Planning Coordinator I provides family centered coordination services to infants, toddlers, and their families who are eligible for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)’s Part C, Early Intervention.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Provide home- and center-based family centered services to eligible (Part C) infants and toddlers and their families. Duties include:
    1. Developing collaborative relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries.
    2. Determining with the family the concerns, priorities, and needs of the child and family.
    3. Jointly developing and revising the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) as needed.
    4. Monitoring service delivery.
  2. Attend and actively participate in Part C (Baltimore Infant and Toddlers Program (BITP) eligibility determination evaluations and family assessments to develop the IFSP.
  3. Complete and maintain monthly contacts in Spanish with all families (telephone, home visits, agency visits) and appropriately document and submit billing in a timely manner.
  4. Effectively monitor and adhere to the required timelines for Part C and Part B and maintain all required paperwork and data entry in a timely manner.
  5. Monitor developmental milestones, family outcomes, and routines.
  6. Complete intake referrals, schedule evaluations, and order assessments as requested/necessary.
  7. Complete all components of the transition process, including but not limited to:
    1. Completing transition planning with the family
    2. Submitting transition packet when necessary.
    3. Gathering documentation for part B eligibility meetings and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
    4. Attending all meetings related to transition.
    5. Developing the extended IFSP when necessary.
  8. Provide interpretation for all processes, serve as an integral part of the early intervention team, working closely with other providers and the family.
  9. Make appropriate referrals for the family and collaborate with outside agencies.
  10. Provide support, education, and information to promote family collaboration and self-advocacy.
  11. Participate in necessary tasks to improve program quality and growth related to CFSP and the working relationship with BITP. This may include:
    1. Participating in mandatory program meetings and trainings.
    2. Planning and chairing advisory committee meetings.
    3. Tracking progress towards program goals and maintaining involvement in community outreach.
    4. Collaborating with other Kennedy Krieger Institute departments and outside agencies to maintain referrals and ensure best practices on behalf of the population being served.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institute’s minimum standards. Able to speak Spanish fluently with ease and confidence in a variety of topics related to work, home, leisure activities, as well as events of current, public or personal interest or individual relevance. Able to convey intended message with accuracy, clarity, and precision without misrepresentation or confusion while being readily understood by native speakers.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate of Arts degree in a human services or related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience may be substituted for education requirements.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous work in the field of disabilities required, preferably with children and their families.
  • Previous case management experience preferred.

 

Minimum pay range

USD $40,043.12/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $66,204.53/Yr.
