Overview

In support of the mission, vision, and values of Kennedy Krieger Institute, the Rehabilitation Aide/Transporter plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position supports clinicians by assisting with patient transfers, transport, therapeutic activities, and daily operational needs under direct supervision and in accordance with Maryland state regulations and Institute policies.

The Rehabilitation Aide/Transporter contributes to a safe, organized, and welcoming clinical environment while assisting patients, families, and staff throughout the care experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, and clean patient treatment areas before and after sessions in accordance with Institute safety, hygiene, privacy, and infection prevention standards.
  • Assist with therapeutic exercise and functional activity programs under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), Occupational Therapist, or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), in compliance with Maryland state law.
  • Properly apply and remove electrodes, orthotic devices, adaptive equipment, and rehabilitation modalities, reporting any adverse patient responses to clinicians promptly.
  • Greet, transport, and assist patients with mobility, hygiene, and dressing needs.
  • Support appointment flow by reminding patients of schedules in coordination with clinicians and care center staff.
  • Provide general program information and conduct clinic tours for new patients and families.
  • Maintain program supplies, including ordering, labeling, inventory control, storage, and equipment tracking.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, organization, cleaning, transport, scheduling, and safe storage; identify and report quality or safety concerns.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, staff trainings, performance improvement initiatives, and regulatory preparation activities.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Enrollment in health occupation curriculum, certification, or academic program is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working or volunteering in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience working with or treating children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilities is preferred.

Minimum pay range

USD $15.00/Hr.

Maximum pay range

USD $23.00/Hr.
