The Quality Improvement Specialist will support the department’s various quality assurance functions and implementation of the Institute’s Performance Measurement, Performance Management, and Patient Safety and Risk Management plans under the supervision and direction of the department director.
1. Under the direction of the Quality Improvement Coordinators, reviews medical records to ensure compliance with accreditation and Institute standards.
2. Compiles data from reviews of medical records, analyzes the data, and identifies potential areas of improvement.
3. Assists the Quality Improvement Coordinators with credentialing (reappointment process) by collecting and entering performance data into the ongoing professional practice evaluation profiles.
4. Participates in various Quality, Patient Safety & Professional Affairs (QPSPA) department committees.
5. Participates in weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, and upcoming milestones.
6. Participates on department performance improvement projects as directed.
7. Participates on work projects that support departmental objectives as assigned by the department director.
8. Assists with Employee Health Hotline duties and responsibilities as needed.
9. Maintains professional growth and development in the field of patient safety, quality, and performance improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Registered Nurse with active Maryland Licensure.
• Certification in Healthcare Quality or related certification preferred.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience auditing clinical programs, medical records, and/or providing quality improvement support/oversight in a clinical setting preferred.
