Overview

$2500 Hiring Incentive

 

The Speech Language Pathologist I will provide direct home-based, center-based, and telehealth parent training and patient care for assessing and treating communication (i.e., speech/language), oral motor, and feeding/swallowing disorders. The incumbent will administer department and program functions, maintain documentation relative to services offered, and participate in intra- and interdisciplinary training programs.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide parent training and therapy programs that focus on resolving an identified condition or diminishing its functional impact, with consideration given to setting clear and measurable goals and incorporating child and family needs, interests, abilities, and perspective. Utilize a range of techniques to engage children and families.
  2. Provide home-based, center-based, and/or telehealth functional communication (i.e., speech/language), oral motor, and feeding assessments to determine presence and (where detected) degree of conditions, with consideration to child and family’s needs.
  3. Initiate and maintain contact with referral sources and other Kennedy Krieger Institute and community providers to assist in coordination of services and to foster productive relationships in the community.
  4. Meet all assigned revenue goals and complete all written documentation related to patient care. Ensure documentation is consistent with Institute and departmental expectations as well as guidelines established by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  5. Participate in intra- and interdisciplinary activities relative to patient care (e.g., team conferences) and professional training (e.g., staff development activities).
  6. Participate in departmental activities and outreach activities in the community (e.g., presentations, serving on committees, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain a license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Maryland.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) required.
  • Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, with related clinical requirements, required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year in Speech –Language Pathology with experience in augmentative and alternative communication required.
  • Previous experience with developmental disabilities and pediatric evaluation & treatment is preferred.
  • Experience in coordinating community services preferred.

Minimum pay range

USD $70,000.00/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $106,245.00/Yr.
