Overview

Part-time hours and flexible hours to fit a school schedule.

 

The Rehabilitation Technician will assist in patient care under direct supervision of a clinician within the policies and procedures of both the Institute and the departmental program, and in accordance with Laws and Regulations of the State of Maryland. The incumbent will assist clinical staff in the provision of patient care programs and perform supportive tasks, including those serving the administrative, maintenance and operational needs of the program. This position requires proficiency in at least one area of concentration which is meaningful and of value to the department.

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee one or more programmatic areas of concentration/responsibility.
  2. Prepare, maintain, and clean patient treatment areas before & after treatment sessions. Adhere to Kennedy Krieger Institute policies regarding patient & staff safety, hygiene, patient privacy, and patient-specific and standard precautions.
  3. Assist in patient-centered activities by creating client-centered therapy projects and activities, and executing other similar tasks under close guidance of the supervising therapist.
  4. Aid transitions by greeting, comforting, and assisting patients during arrival, guidance through therapy areas, and departure.
  5. Remind and clarify appointment schedules for patients in conjunction with clinicians’ treatment plans and care center scheduling.
  6. Assist with specified activities during individual sessions and groups under direct supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Occupational Therapist (OT) per Maryland state law.
  7. Maintain program supplies, including ordering, inventory control, labeling, and storing supplies. Participate in maintenance, organization, care, cleaning, transport, tracking, scheduling, charging, and safe storage of equipment. Identify and correct/report quality control problems, such as removal and coordinating repair of broken equipment or environmental hazards.
  8. Assist the department in maintaining a safe environment of care through regular audits of the clinic spaces and performing corrective actions under the guidance of the clinic leadership.
  9. Actively participate in meetings and committees, including execution of tasks related to preparing for regulatory review and performance improvement projects. Attend staff and supervisory meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 3 months of hire date.

 

EDUCATION:

  • High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Enrollment in health occupation curriculum, certification, or academic program is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience working with or treating children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilities preferred.

Minimum pay range

USD $15.58/Hr.

Maximum pay range

USD $24.32/Hr.
