This position is 40 hours per week, working Monday through Friday from 7:30am-4:00pm in the Outpatient Clinics.

Responsibilities
· Provides phlebotomy services for designated site including transporting specimen to appropriate lab as needed and obtaining daily results of specimens obtained.
· Checks orders for appropriate specimens to be obtained.
· Completes lab slips accurately when necessary and/or checks accuracy of slip.
· Identifies and verifies the appropriate patient for specimen collection and collects specimen using proper technique and standard precautions.
· Prints specimen labels (computerized and addressograph), labels, and prepares specimen accurately.
· Obtains and records weights, heights, vital signs, and head circumference.
· Assists with examinations, treatments, and procedures performed in the Outpatient Department.
· Monitors and maintains phlebotomy supplies.
· Prepares exam and triage rooms prior to the start of clinic and between each patient and escorts patient/family to assigned exam room.
· Monitors the expiration dates on the general medical supplies.
· Cleans toys according to Kennedy Krieger Institute infection control guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
· High School Graduate or equivalent.
· Current national certification in Phlebotomy is required.
· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification required.
· Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate through Maryland Board of Nursing required.
Experience:
· Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience required.
· Minimum of one year of pediatric experience preferred.
