Overview

The Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Specialist (CIA Specialist) provides direct and indirect curriculum, instruction, and assessment services to students.  The CIA Specialist works collaboratively with academic staff to assess students' instructional strengths and needs to provide appropriate curriculum, instruction and assessment, which align with students' Individual Educational Programs (IEP) and with federal, state, and regional standards.  CIA Specialists further support student learning by providing training, mentoring, and technical assistance regarding evidenced-based intervention to academic staff.

 

The CIA Specialist provides support to the school Administration by participating in all appropriate school and department level meetings as required.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Provide direct and indirect curricular, instructional, and assessment services to support student learning.
  2. Work in collaboration with school administration to ensure Kennedy Krieger School Programs' alignment with all federal, state and regional curricular requirements
  3. Work in collaboration with school administration to make purchases to support alignment with curricular requirements
  4. Ensure the management of inventory and circulation of curriculum and assessment materials.
  5. Plan and deliver professional development regarding curriculum, instruction and assessment
  6. In collaboration with school administration, provide mentoring and technical assistance to academic staff
  7. In collaboration with school administration provide training, material, data tracking, and organization of materials required for state-mandated assessment
  8. Attend, participate and provide data during student team meetings, IEP meetings, and all required, program-based meetings.
  9. Participate in the planning, delivery, and training of school and department based initiatives.
  10. Provide leadership to academic staff by demonstrating initiative, professionalism, and content expertise.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI.
  • Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.
  • Individual must hold an Advanced Professional Certificate from the Maryland State Department of Education
  • Individual must be certified in Special Education by the Maryland State Department of Education
  • Individual must demonstrate competence in formal and informal academic assessment.
  • Individual must demonstrate competence in the planning and delivery of standards-based differentiated instruction

 

EDUCATION:

  • Master's Degree, or equivalent, in Special Education or related area is required.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years of direct experience in Special Education
  • Direct experience with formal and informal assessments
  • Direct experience with modification of curricular materials and student accommodations
  • Direct experience with standards-based, differentiated instruction

 

Minimum pay range

USD $56,157.00/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $97,597.00/Yr.
