The Senior Research Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Research Program Coordinator to investigate, identify, develop, implement, and monitor systems to ensure that the assigned research projects/studies comply with Institutional Review Board (IRB) standards, scientific procedures, and stay within timelines. The incumbent will train and supervise research staff and trainees, conduct research assessments, provide coaching/training to study participants, and serve as the main point of contact for study-related representatives outside and within the Institute. The Senior Research Coordinator will also assist in the preparation of progress reports for the PI and will assist in preparation of National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports and grant submissions.
1. Develop, execute, and continuously monitor systems and research protocols for assigned research projects and studies to ensure that Institutional Review Board (IRB)/scientific requirements are met, confidentiality is maintained, the consent processes are followed, and data accuracy is maintained.
2. Coordinate research protocols with Principal Investigators (PIs) and both internal and external study coordinators. Establish and maintain relationships with collaborating sites in which the study will be conducted.
3. Assist in developing coding schemas, code data, and conduct inter-rater reliability trials.
4. Prepare and submit materials for IRB applications and renewals, ensuring adherence to deadlines and policies.
5. Prepare progress reports for the PI. Assist in preparation for National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports and grants by preparing initial drafts.
6. Assess infants and children with and without developmental disabilities using standardized and non-standardized assessment instruments as part of the research protocol.
7. Participate in interview, hiring, training, and onboarding process for research assistants and aides. Supervise research staff and trainees assigned to work on specific research projects and studies.
8. Oversee recruitment and orientation of participants for assigned research projects and studies.
9. Develop and conduct training for research staff related to specified study protocols and for general lab and research procedures (e.g., scoring, consenting, archiving data, telephone screening).
10. Monitor staff performance, ensure progress on projects, and complete performance reviews for assigned research staff. Investigate and identify problems and develop solutions related to IRB, study, protocol, and data issues.
11. Participate in multi-site research, coordinate calls, and ensure full alignment of the research protocol across the Institute and other sites. Keep PI informed of all conference call proceedings.
12. Inform parents of their child’s assessment results and make appropriate referrals and recommendations when necessary. Prepare written summary of assessment in a timely manner.
13. Conduct literature reviews, gather preliminary data, compose various sections in the preparation of grants and manuscripts, and present topics related to the research and/or autism.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Rehabilitation, Psychology, Special Education, or a related specified field of learning required.
• Master’s Degree or PhD preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 4 years of professional laboratory experience, including administering standardized assessments required. A Master’s degree may be substitute for 2 years of the required experience.
• Treatment experience with preschool aged individuals with autism preferred.
• Recent supervisory/management experience required.
