The Assistant Director, Office of Health, Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity will oversee the implementation, training, and evaluation of the health, equity, inclusion, and diversity program plans in coordination and collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer. The incumbent develops, modifies, and
maintains employment and recruitment practices to support diversity, inclusion, regulatory, and business requirements. Develops training programs and educates staff about bias and the use of anti-racism strategies. Recognizes and defines opportunities to enhance diversity in the workforce. Hires, coaches, mentors, and develops employees regarding diversity issues in research. Offers effective recruitment and retention staffing solutions. Assists the Chief Diversity Officer and collaborates with the EDI Steering Committee and Councils to develop culturally relevant evidence and equity-based strategies to support employees, trainees, and patients at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Develops and updates curriculum for the Center for Diversity Learning Management System with Chief Diversity Officer and Co-Director of the Center for Diversity. Assists in selecting and mentoring Center for Diversity scholars. Identifies and applies for grants or other funding to expand OHEID programs and services.
1. Develop, organize, and implement evidence-based training activities related to anti-bias, anti-racism, and cultural competency across the entire Institute.
2. Responsible for equity, inclusion, diversity, anti-bias, health disparities, maternal and child health and public health materials on the Learning Management System.
3. Collaborate, train, consult with, and support equity, inclusion, and diversity (EDI) employee resource groups.
4. Develop measurable goals to eliminate racism and support employee health, diversity, and retention in collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer, EDI steering council, and resource groups.
5. Coordinate EDI steering committee and IDEAS councils meetings.
6. Participate in community endeavors to promote EDI and anti-ism.
7. Review and recommend changes to Institute policies and procedures in collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer and Administration.
8. Develop grants, training, and research initiatives to reduce bias in trainee selection and patient care.
9. Research and update resources and materials related to social determinants of health, health disparities, ‘-isms’ for the Center for Diversity Learning Management System.
10. Participate in and contribute to the selection process of Center for Diversity scholars.
11. Prepare and draft annual reports.
12. Prepare data for reports for funding agencies, grant proposals, and manuscripts in collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer, Co-Director for the Center for Diversity, and Center for Diversity manager.
13. Provide professional and research mentoring for the Center for Diversity students.
EDUCATION:
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Public Health, or related field required.
PhD in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of four years of experience with clinical assessment, research administration, counseling, human subject project management, or other relevant experience required.
Experience with clinical services and mentoring for diverse populations, research project management, statistical analysis, database management, and manuscript preparation preferred
