Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist II will perform home- and center-based therapy in the Child and Family Support Program. The SLP II provides parent training, evaluations and subsequent planning, execution, and supervision of therapy programs to assist in the development of all areas of communication, oral motor, and feeding skills for children with developmental disabilities and their families. The SLP II must demonstrate the ability to solve complex treatment problems in multiple environments with periodic supervision. The SLP II must demonstrate clinical competence in a specialized area and participate in intra- and interdisciplinary training programs related to the specialized area. The SLP II may supervise speech therapy students and clinical fellows. The SLP II will contribute to program development, evaluation, and performance improvement.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide home- and center-based parent training and therapy programs that focus on resolving an identified condition or diminishing its functional impact, with consideration given to setting clear and measurable goals and incorporating child and family needs, interests, abilities, and perspective. Utilize a range of techniques to engage children and families.
  2. Provide home- and center-based functional communication (i.e., speech and language), oral motor, and feeding assessments to determine presence and degree of handicapping conditions (where detected), with consideration to child and family’s needs.
  3. Initiate and maintain contact with referral sources and other KKI and community providers to assist in the coordination of services and to foster productive relationships in the community.
  4. Demonstrate clinical expertise in a specialty area and function as a mentor in this area of specialization.
  5. Meet all assigned revenue goals, and complete all paperwork in a manner consistent with Institute and departmental expectations, as well as guidelines established by The Joint Commission, CARF, and ASHA.
  6. Actively participates in in team conferences and meetings, providing technical assistance, training, and support to other team members. Initiate and participate in projects that contribute to the growth of the Child and Family Support Program (e.g., groups, workshops, special projects, trainee supervision).

Qualifications

  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required.
  • *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI.
  • *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Must have a Master’s degree in speech/language pathology.
  • Must hold a license in speech pathology by the State of Maryland or equivalent.
  • Must be eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competence by ASHA.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years licensed experience in Speech Language Pathology (including CFY) with at least two years’ documented experience in area of specialty.
  • Must have previous experience with developmental disabilities.
  • Must have experience in pediatric evaluation/treatment.
  • Experience in coordinating community services preferred.

Pay Range: USD MIN $61,845 - Max $109, 392 Yr/annually
