Overview

The Manager, Environmental Services will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for continuous improvement of a standard Environmental Services operating model within the Facility and ensure sound business decisions are made that support the Institute’s mission and vision. The incumbent will manage the day-to-day operation of the department and ensure a consistently elevated level of cleanliness and aesthetics to patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and manage all Environmental Service (EVS) staff, including assigning daily work responsibilities.
  2. Coordinate with nursing and other departments to determine priorities and review problem areas related to environmental services issues such as discharges, areas that need to be cleaned, etc.
  3. Serve as a backup for Environmental Services staff and perform required duties of position. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping assigned areas clean, sanitary, and aseptic to meet departmental standards and expectations.
  4. Conduct rounds and observe all EVS staff in their areas to ensure staff are performing according to departmental standards and expectations.
  5. Interview and hire new hires to the EVS department. Evaluate new hires for areas of improvement and professional development. Provide input on performance appraisals for Environmental Care Technicians.
  6. Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of all Environmental Care Technicians.
  7. Develop and maintain employee work schedule.
  8. Supervise contract personnel and vendors to ensure that they meet departmental standards and expectations.
  9. Promptly report safety hazards, deficiencies, or needed repairs including, but not limited to, broken or cracked windowpanes, leaking faucets, toilets, loose tiles, broken blinds, damaged furniture, etc.
  10. Follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Blood Borne Pathogen Safety Standards and perform duties in compliance with the Institute’s Infection Prevention practices.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in a hospital or long-term care facility required, to include experience in a pediatric setting.
  • Minimum of three(3)-year supervisory experience required.
