Overview

The Recreational Activities Staff II (Behavioral) plans and implements behaviorally oriented and developmentally appropriate activities which support the patient during the Feeding Program Admission.  The Recreational Activities Staff II is responsible for providing observation, assessment, and programming for patients, and relevant caregivers training during the admission to the Feeding Program.

Responsibilities

  1. Develops and facilitates developmentally appropriate programming in which support the psychosocial, behavioral, and cultural needs of the patients.
  2. Observes and assesses patients and caregiver interactions and provides information when appropriate to the behavioral team, interdisciplinary team, and caregivers.
  3. Models developmentally appropriate adult-child interactions and provide relevant information to assist caregivers in improving interactions with their children.
  4. Supervises patients in the playroom and assists with the daily care of patients including but not limited to, patent engagement with activities and toileting/diaper changes.
  5. Trains and provides supervision for staff, volunteers, and practicum students.
  6. Orders and maintains activity materials and supplies by cleaning toys, equipment, and playroom environment in accordance with established procedures.
  7. Plans for and provides daily and weekly programming appropriate to the developmental level of the patients.
  8. Maintains a safe and developmentally appropriate playroom and sustains appropriate professional boundaries with patients, caregivers and staff.
  9. Utilizes safe and appropriate handling, management, and guidance procedures when working with or transporting patients.
  10. Maintains quality and effectiveness of patient services through the implementation of, and compliance with, all program, departmental, and Institute policies, procedures and performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to develop, plan, adapt, implement, and assess activities appropriate to the developmental, psychosocial, educational, behavioral, and recreational needs of children and adolescents of a variety  of ages, cultures and abilities.
  • Ability to remain responsive to patient needs and maintain good customer service despite frequent changes in patient support needs and the fast-paced, intensive environment.
  • Use of Microsoft Excel and other computer application software.
  • CPR and Choking Infants/Children/Adults certification required. 

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Child Life, Education, Child Development or related field required.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in the implementation of behavioral assessment/treatment programs with children with typical development and developmental delays as well as parent training is required.
