Overview

Full time position, Mon thru Fri  The Nurse Practitioner at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders at the Kennedy Krieger Institute will conduct
initial developmental evaluations, developmental monitoring follow-up appointments, and/or medication management for children ages 2-21 years of age
who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other neurodevelopmental diagnoses. The Nurse Practitioner will be a part of an excellent Developmental Pediatrics team
comprised of developmental pediatricians, neurologists, psychiatrists, and genetic specialists. The Nurse Practitioner will also have the opportunity to collaborate
with different disciplines, such as psychology, speech/language, occupational therapy, social work, etc. to provide comprehensive care for patients.

The ideal Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner (with pediatric experience) candidate will have: prior experience

in pediatrics and/or developmental-behavioral pediatrics; have an understanding of developmental milestones and recognize developmental differences;
have knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related neurodevelopmental diagnoses;
be able to complete histories, physical exams, and developmental assessments; formulate diagnoses;
implement plans of care; and complete follow-ups within the appropriate time frame;
conduct appointments both in-person and via Telehealth format; be able to prescribe and manage psychotropic medications appropriately, when necessary;
provide appropriate referrals to therapists and subspecialists; order appropriate labs, imaging, and other diagnostics as needed;
consult with physicians, when necessary; be a team player and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team;
complete documentation, prescription requests, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner;
maintain necessary certification(s) and licensure(s); attend all required staff meetings;
participate in continuing education that pertains to Autism Spectrum Disorder, neurodevelopmental diagnoses, and/or developmental-behavioral pediatrics;
effectively communicate with patients and their families; advocate for and provide strength-based, neuroaffirmative care for patients and their families.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered nurse licensure and certification as a nurse practitioner required by the State of
  •       Maryland to practice as a nurse practitioner.
  • National certification in area of specialty from a recognized Association, including the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
  • *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI.
  • *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of related clinical nursing experience required.
