Overview

 

 

The Director of Speech-Language Pathology is responsible for the operation of clinical, administrative, training and research, and program development activities for the Center for Autism Services, Science and Innovation (CASSI™, formerly known as the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, or CARD) and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Outpatient Clinics and Achievements programs.  The incumbent will work with the CASSI SLP managers to maintain responsibility for daily operations, implementing, coordinating and supervising the clinical service aspects of the department’s SLP Outpatient Clinics and Achievements programs across all locations. The incumbent will coordinate with the managers and senior SLP staff in establishing and implementing CASSI™ SLP program policies, procedures, standards, and goals; consult and act as a liaison within CASSI™  and externally. This position will collaborate and coordinate with the Speech-Language Pathology discipline director related to leveraging knowledge across the Institute. The incumbent will provide direct patient care by assessing and treating children with communication (i.e., speech/language) and oral motor disorders.

Responsibilities

Lead the speech-language pathology (SLP) services at CASSI™  . Work with the Executive Director for integration and oversight of SLP quality and operations across all sites, including compliance, standards, and ethical practices. Manage the SLP team, ensuring proper licensure, training, and performance. Provide guidance to SLP Managers for daily clinical activities and address quality issues. Perform comprehensive assessments and treatments, catering to patient and family needs. Collaborate on the SLP budget and service policies with management. Ensure program meets regulatory standards and improve department functions. Advocate for SLP services and liaise with leadership. Attend and contribute to relevant meetings and maintain program facilities.

Qualifications

                       

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain Maryland State Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Must hold and maintain the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) granted by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  •  

EDUCATION:

  • PhD or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology (or related area) is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a licensed Speech Language Pathologist required.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in each of the following areas:
  • Direct clinical service
  • Supervision
  • Training
  • Administration
