The Psychologist I will provide psychotherapy for children and adolescents served through the Psychiatric Mental Health Program in close coordination with The Tourette Syndrome Center of Excellence at Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Medicine (TCOE). The psychologist will implement Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) with patients referred through the TCOE as well as other referred patients.  The psychologist will maintain a clinical caseload including individual and family psychotherapy, diagnostic assessments, parent training, and, counseling in child development and behavior management. The Psychologist assists parents or caregivers in advocating for their children’s needs in the community. Primary clinical responsibilities will be for individuals aged 5 years through young adulthood.




  1. Functions as a therapist within the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Psychiatric Mental Health Program (PMHP). Work in close coordination with The Tourette Syndrome Center of Excellence at Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Medicine (TCOE) to provide high quality evidence-based care in individual, family, and group therapy formats in an outpatient setting. Other interventions may include exposure response prevention, cognitive-behavioral therapy, social skills training, psycho-education and crisis-intervention, and other treatment modalities as appropriate to the needs of the patient.
  2. Provides consultation to other treating clinicians within the PMHP and TCOE.
  3. Conducts evaluations, including diagnostic assessments, and psychological testing to support care. Selects appropriate measures, scores, and interprets results in formulation for treatment planning and recommendations.
  4. Develops and implements individualized treatment plans in collaboration with families, members of the patient’s treatment team, and maintains communication with community professionals involved in the patient’s plan of care.
  5. Enter reports into the EPIC system.
  6. Assists in coordinating needed services and referrals for patients and families, including but not limited to residential treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, day treatment, in-home services, and school advocacy.
  7. Assists the Medical Director, Director of Psychology Services, and Clinical Director in the development of clinical initiatives.
  8. Participates in meetings with discipline supervisor, program supervisor meetings, clinical trainings and other activities.
  9. Attends and participates in program meetings, case conferences, team meetings, and any others related to direct patient care or Kennedy Krieger Institute/discipline/program operations.
  10. Participates in the implementation of innovative programs, methods and research that contribute to the PMHP and to the profession.
  11. Collaborates with faculty and staff within department and throughout the Institute and Johns Hopkins University in the implementation of research studies that have a psychological component.
  12. Maintains familiarity with Maryland state laws and the laws and ethical guidelines defined by one’s credentialing board with respect to patient confidentiality, conflicting interests, reporting of abuse, patient termination, and supervision of psychology associates.
  13. Maintains Institute productivity and compliance standards.



  • Licensure as a psychologist in Maryland is required.
  • Must have received postdoctoral training in Comprehensive Behavior Intervention for Tics (CBIT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). 


  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA/CPA-accredited college or university is required.
  • Completion of APA/CPA-accredited pre-doctoral internship is required.
  • Postdoctoral fellowship is required.



Minimum 1-year experience in working with a population of children, both with and without intellectual/neurodevelopmental disabilities, and/or psychiatric disorders. This experience may be satisfied through postdoctoral training in psychology.
