Overview

the Research Assistant I will assists with a wide variety of research activities and work with people and with databases. The incumbent is responsible for conducting eligibility screenings and evaluations; videotapes evaluations; codes data; scores and enters data into databases, and maintains reliability on all coding schema and all related activities.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Administer experimental tasks to infants and children with autism and other developmental disabilities according to the research protocols.
  2. Assist with the development of coding schema’s, code data, and maintain reliability on all coding schemas.
  3. Set-up/breakdown of testing rooms and videotaping evaluations, inclusive of eye tracking technology.
  4. Score research assessments, check scoring, and enter data into databases.
  5. Obtain and track medical records for research subjects.
  6. Assist Coordinator with writing up procedure sheets for research protocols along with developing data sheets, and other research related forms.
  7. Conduct telephone screening interviews to determine research participant eligibility and track eligibility data.
  8. Assist with care of siblings of child being tested when parents are participating in evaluation.
  9. Assist Coordinator or Tester with subject recruitment activities (mailings, posting fliers, contacting outside agencies, etc.)
  10. Assist with manuscript and grant preparations by conducting literature searches, developing bibliography and reference pages, and editing, and formatting documents.
  11. Conduct eligibility assessments, Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)/ Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI) for probands to determine eligibility for research participation and maintain reliability on these measures.
  12. Assist with developing databases and tracking data.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • This is an entry level position, however, related research experience (administering standardized assessments) is preferred.
  • Treatment experience with preschool aged individuals with autism is preferred.
