The Supervisor oversees and performs front-end clinical operations activities which include but are not limited to registration, cashiering and financial clearances for inpatient and assigned outpatient clinical departments.
Operate all of the benefit verification, authorization, admitting, and registration systems of the Patient Financial Services Department.
Provide daily supervision of Financial Counselors; create a positive working environment setting high work and ethical standards by providing leadership and a positive example to staff and customers.
Understand the basic business requirements of designated protocols and serve as a liaison between Clinical Care Managers, Patient Financial Services and Patient Accounting.
Establish and maintain relationships with current business customers and insurance nurse case managers.
Liaison between Patient Accounting and Contracted payors to resolve authorization and billing discrepancies.
Serve as EPIC Super User for Patient Financial Services monitoring updates and communications with EPIC team; documenting and sharing same
Monitor and supervise EPIC Patient and Referral Work Queues
Monitor and financially clear EPIC Claims Edit and Account Work Queues
Verify, analyze, interpret and document patient health insurance coverage, health plan provisions, or other third party payment plan arrangements.
Supervise inpatient Medical Assistance tracking of the 3808 authorization and billing process.
Monitor and facilitate the long-term care applications process to ensure timely billing.
Estimate deposit requirements, determine patient liability, establish payment arrangements, and monitor payment agreements with Patient Accounting.
Ensure complete and accurate information is entered into the registration system and ensure all necessary and required signatures for clinical and financial documentation are entered.
Review financial folders and weekly logs in preparation for billing.
High School Diploma Required
Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration or related field preferred.
Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare as it relates to admitting and patient accounting experience.
