  • Overview

    the Grants Manager is responsible for the administration of all financial data relevant to the operation of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) at Kennedy Krieger Institute, including: the MCDD’s training program, Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law), People On the Go, Department of Health projects, the Simon’s Foundation contract. and other grants/contracts as needed.


    1. Responsible for the coordination of finance-related issues that pertain to the daily operation of the MCDD and its affiliated programs (e.g., People On the Go and the Simon’s Foundation). This includes coordinating the transfer of information between the projects/programs and Kennedy Krieger’s Finance department.
    2. Initiate the preparation of an annual MCDD budget. Prepare budgets and financial attachments for new grant and funding proposals for the MCDD and its affiliated programs.
    3. Set up and maintain grant files for pending and awarded grants for the MCDD and its affiliated programs. Allocate budget in accordance with grant award. Monitor grants and make recommendations for proper adjustments to the Director. Prepare journal entries to close grants and reconcile accounts.
    4. Process check requisitions for the MCDD and its affiliated programs as needed. Reconcile credit card payments and submit for payment. Prepare deposits, monitor accounts receivable, distribute petty cash, and process personnel change notices and annual merit increases for MCDD faculty and staff. 
    5. Prepare monthly analysis of MCDD and affiliated programs’ budgets (including balances and projections) to actual revenue and expenses. Meet with the Director monthly to review results. Participate in quarterly meetings with the Director and program/project directors to review quarterly results.
    6. Prepare quarterly statistical trend analyses of the MCDD and its affiliated programs.
    7. Assist the Director and program/project directors and managers on related projects as needed.



    • Associate degree in business, accounting, life science, or other related field required.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • 3-5 years of direct work experience related to the responsibilities of this position may be substituted for education. 



    • Must have a minimum of three years of accounting experience
    • Experience with fund accounting and non-profit accounting is strongly preferred.
