  • Overview

    The Kennedy Krieger Institute, located in Baltimore, MD, is an internationally recognized institution dedicated to improving the lives of children and young adults with pediatric developmental disabilities and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and musculoskeletal system. 


    The Institute is currently searching for an exceptional Vice President (VP) of Nursing.  This nurse executive is responsible for ensuring the delivery of optimal patient care through nursing quality assurance standards, and the appropriate allocation and management of nursing resources using solid clinical and business practices. The VP of Nursing collaborates with Institute leadership, the governing body, and medical and clinical leadership in tactical and strategic planning for clinical services, new programs, and new facilities. The VP of Nursing collaborates with the Dean of the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Nursing to provide an organizational structure which advances professional nursing practice, education, and research. 


    The ideal candidate must have at least a BSN, hold an RN license in the State of Maryland, and be eligible for a faculty appointment at the JHU School of Nursing.   He/she will have had extensive experience with neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent populations, along with adults with disabilities.  The successful candidate will possess advanced interpersonal skills necessary to provide collaboration within a multidisciplinary setting and excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.


    The ideal candidate will also demonstrate significant experience with nursing administration, including progressive responsibility in academic clinical settings, with comfort in both inpatient and ambulatory environments, as well as in-depth and practical knowledge of nursing theory, organizational design and administration.  Candidate must have knowledge of current health care environment, regulatory affairs and accreditation standards.
