    the Occupational Therapist IV will perform evaluation and subsequent planning, execution, and supervision of therapy programs for persons with neuromotor dysfunction in the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD).  The Occupational Therapist will participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary training programs for affiliating students, staff, and community agencies, conduct clinical supervision of Occupational Therapists, OT students, COTAs, and volunteers/aides at CARD, and maintain appropriate patient records. Administrative supervisory responsibilities include ensuring compliance with departmental and organizational policies and procedures, performance appraisals, goals setting, progressive discipline, work/leave schedules and day-to-day workplace interventions and problem resolution, and serving as the OT liaison with the care center.  Responsible for at least one specific clinical/research/administrative component within the Department.  Has the potential to participate and oversee OT involvement in clinical research.

    Responsibilities

    1. In collaboration with the director and clinical director of CARD, oversees and expands the role and implementation of occupational therapy services at CARD.
    2. Develop and evaluate new OT programs at CARD with CARD Clinical Director
    3. Evaluate assigned patients; plan programs; execute, supervise, and document programs as planned.           
    4. Provide instruction to caregivers regarding home and community programming.
    5. Maintain written documentation, including patient reports, progress notes, initial and discharge reports, according to procedures of the department, KKI, and Maryland OT guidelines.
    6. Supervise affiliating students/trainees and clinical staff as assigned.
    7. Conduct performance reviews and work with clinical director and business manager to ensure staff maintain clinical productivity standards
    8. Assist in the development of documentation, treatment protocols, and clinical policies and procedures specific to program area.
    9. Serve as the liaison to the care center and ensure that all OT schedules are properly filled and waitlists for OT services are maintained correctly.
    10. Implement program development, evaluation, and performance improvement/performance evaluation measures for CARD OT and CARD Clinic.
    11. Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies, as well as ensuring that new equipment and supplies are ordered in a timely fashion.
    12. Participates in planning and execution of programs for personal and professional growth and development.
    13. Functions effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

    Qualifications

     

    EDUCATION:

    • Graduate of an accredited program in Occupational Therapy with a minimum Baccalaureate Degree or basic Masters in Occupational Therapy (MA/MS in OT preferred).
    • Eligible for license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Maryland.

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Five years licensed experience in Occupational Therapy is required.
    • Previous experience in pediatrics and/or rehabilitation and treatment preferred but not required.
