  • Overview

    The Psychiatrist, Lower/Middle School, provides direct clinical psychiatry services and clinical consultation to patients and students.

    Responsibilities

    1. Provides direct psychiatric services and psychiatric consultative services at the Kennedy Krieger School Program (KKS) that is consistently competent and of high quality.
    2. Complies with all Kennedy Krieger, state, federal and other regulatory agencies Joint Commission requirements pertaining to medical procedures in an outpatient mental health setting (and inpatient, if applicable) including implementation and documentation of medical services. To specifically comply with timely submission of administrative paperwork including progress notes, treatment plans, and time study sheets as per Kennedy Krieger Institute and Joint Commission regulations.
    3. Facilitates efficient and effective interface with other clinician and educational services in the Kennedy Krieger Schools, Neurobehavioral Unit Outpatient Clinic and Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic.
    4. Maintains a clinical caseload in the Kennedy Krieger School.
    5. Brings any risk management issues to the attention of both the Medical Director of Schools and the Education Director.
    6. Collaborates with other staff (Education Director, Principals, teachers and other professionals) as required, including monitoring and attending interdisciplinary meetings as needed.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    • Must be a Medical Doctor.
    • Board Eligible / Certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
    • Must possess and maintain medical license in the State of Maryland.

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    Have a strong background in psychiatric aspects of developmental disabilities in children and adolescents.
