    the Early Head Start (EHS) Child Care Teacher is responsible for daily planning, management and supervision of the classroom and children. This position is responsible for ensuring the child care center is conducive to quality parent/child interactions, parents feel comfortable, and quality educational experiences are provided to the children.  The EHS Child Care Teacher works as part of a team to provide a warm and nurturing environment, modeling and encouraging appropriate social interactions and assure individual age appropriate activities for each child.  


    1. Presents and provides educational activities to children in an unrestricted environment using best practices. Activities are culturally sensitive, attachment based and trauma informed.
    2. In collaboration with the Educational Services Coordinator, uses the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold as a framework to plan lessons, create classroom strategies, set educational goals for individuals and groups, and make daily care plans.
    3. Participates and assists in implementing parent child attachment interventions (i.e. Family Tradition Groups).
    • Develops and facilitates child development goals in accordance with family partnership agreements and Teaching Strategies Gold observation.
    1. Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/materials for the classroom.
    2. Ensures that all center classroom paperwork is completed in a timely fashion (i.e. Daily log, child observation, attendance, assessment tools, and progress notes).
    3. Conducts weekly observations on assigned children using the Teaching Strategies Gold online tool.
    4. Completes child development screenings (ASQ & ASQ-SE, DECA-IT).
    5. Completes quarterly Checkpoints and Parent conferences for each child in the Teaching Strategies Gold online tool.
    6. Maintains a clean and safe classroom environment.
    7. Conducts courteous communications with parents regarding their child’s progress, needs and concerns.
    8. Follows all OCC licensing requirements and EHS Performance Standards.







    • AA degree or equivalent course work (at least 18 credits) in Early Childhood Education (ECE) required.
    • Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (I/T CDA) Credential may be substituted for 18 ECE college credits or
    • 90 hours Early Childhood Education Certificate, 45 hours Infant Toddler Certificate and Infant/Toddler CDA required.


    • Must have a minimum of one year in previous child care environment.
    • Experience with special needs population preferred.


    • Must be CPR and First Aid certified.
    • Must complete the annual clock hours required by the Office of Child Care to advance or maintain childcare credentials.
