    the Manager, Research Program Operations (RPO) will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative activities, including but not limited to: financial portfolio oversight, pre-and post- grant management, facilitation of personnel and training matters, and liaison to internal and external entities on behalf of the Department Directors and/or assigned Faculty.


    1. Liaise with Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems, clinical departments, and support departments to meet the daily operating needs of the specified program(s), and to ensure compliance with all Institute, State, and Federal policies, rules, laws, and regulations.
    2. Manage the pre- and post-award proposal process with emphasis on preparing new, continuing, and competing grants, progress reports, contracts and subcontract applications. Generates, reviews, and monitors all subcontracts for submission to prime grantee. Advises on grant opportunities, prepares and sends financial reports, helps prepare and send progress/final reports, and helps prepare grant application package.
    3. Manage contracting activities for a range of Clinical Trial Agreements, Master Services Agreements, Consulting Agreements, and Confidentiality Agreements, as well as utilizing templates and language approved by Legal in contract negotiations. Serve as a point of contact for legal contract questions from within and outside the Institute.
    4. Responsible for all facets of daily supervision of the Financial Analyst, including scheduling and performance management.
    5. Facilitate the hiring and termination of employees, onboarding of trainees and processing of volunteers; payroll processing; requires communication with Human Resources and Training Administration to ensure the completion of relevant documents and dissemination of applicable information.
    6. Serve as primary resource for Faculty with respect to updates/changes in regulations and policies of the Institute and grantor agencies.
    7. Analyze budgetary trends and make recommendations for proper adjustments to the program director.
    8. Oversee the preparation of the fiscal year budget for specified program(s). Develops and monitors systems for specific purpose funds for appropriate expenses and revenues in conjunction with the offices of Finance and Development.Sets up new accounts and oversees the management of existing accounts and expense reconciliation, via supervision of the Financial Analyst.
    9. Coordinate and assist in the maintenance of appropriate databases and files with regards to the academic information for each faculty member and research program.
    10. Facilitate the coordination of activities of research team members with the program(s), between the program(s), and other institutions including visiting scientists, students, and fellows.



    • High school diploma required.
    • BA/BS in business, accounting, or life sciences preferred.



    • 2 years of related experience required.
    • 2 years’ experience supervising employees is preferred.
    • 4 additional years of relevant experience can be substituted for educational requirements.
