    the Education Director supervises and implements the curriculum, instructional and management programs at the school site to which s/he is assigned in accordance with the Program Description. The Education Director supervises all Kennedy Krieger staff working in the Type II Program.   Additionally, the Education Director maintains relationships with and extends program options for students with representatives of Prince George’s County’s Nonpublic School’s Division.


    1. Prepare all materials and documentation required for MSDE program approval of this Type II program.
    2. Provide on-site staff supervision for Kennedy Krieger at Central High School, including the observation and evaluation of staff and the enforcement of KKI policies and procedures.
    3. Assist in the recruitment and hiring of all site professional and paraprofessional staff.
    4. Conduct the daily business of the assigned site, serving as liaison between Kennedy Krieger at Central High School, KKI, and Prince George’s county administration and staff members.
    5. Consult with Prince George’s County administration and staff members on decisions that impact the level of collaboration with the partnership school.
    6. Conduct and/or attend meetings as needed to further the goals of Kennedy Krieger at Central High School.
    7. Represent the school and the Institute at all Kennedy Krieger at Central High School partnership meetings, school-based management team meetings, and other meetings as needed.
    8. Participate and coordinate on-site interdisciplinary meetings and the IEP process.
    9. Maintain and monitor IEP goals and objectives as they are created and approved by the site’s team.
    10. Consult with school teams (CHS and KKHS) on student placements and inclusion efforts.
    11. Ensure the delivery of special education services based on the model of instructional delivery used by Kennedy Krieger at Central High School, and monitor and direct efforts to improve classroom instruction.
    12. Properly implement policies regarding suspension/expulsion of students.
    13. Maintain positive relationships with staff, students, and their families, interdisciplinary and interagency representatives, MSDE personnel, Institute staff, and visitors.
    14. Facilitate crisis management, such as hospitalization, with parents and other necessary agencies.
    15. Coordinate medication management with school nursing staff and other necessary agencies.
    16. Collaborate with PGCPS representatives for expanded opportunities for vocational training and employment opportunities within the county as appropriate for students.
    17. Continue to monitor and refine curriculum and maintain transcripts in alignment with federal, state and district mandates for compliance with federal special education law and graduation requirements.




    Master’s Degree in education required.  Candidate must possess or be eligible for MSDE Advanced Professional Certification in Special Education.  Candidate must have completed, or be enrolled in an educational program to attain MSDE professional certification in school administration, or be eligible for such certification if transferring credentials.



    • At least five years experience in special education required.
