the Child Care Supervisor effectively plans and supervises the childcare related responsibilities for World of Care (WOC). The Child Care Supervisor trains staff, manages staff schedules and timekeeping, provides visibility in the classroom, and oversees childcare curriculum delivery and implementation.   This position collaborates with the Program Director to maintain daily center operations.  In addition, this position will ensure licensing/accreditation compliance and grant monitoring.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise, and complete all performance management functions for WOC child care staff using a reflective coaching model. Manages staffing patterns and schedules. Provides guidance for most appropriate practices when needed.
  2. Ensures, oversees and directs safe child care services are delivered in the WOC program. Observes and assesses child care rooms at least 1 hour each week to ensure that Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) developmental appropriate practices are followed. Completes observation and assessment forms of staff.
  3. Learns, implements, and trains staff on the curriculum and service-delivery models (SEFEL, RBI, etc.).
  4. Ensures childcare credentials, accreditation, and licensing standards are maintained by scheduling and completing trainings, remaining current with MSDE policies, maintaining appropriate documentation and meeting regularly with staff.
  5. Works closely with childcare staff, therapists and nurses to ensure each child has an individualized child care plan which is updated at least every 2-3 months, and which contains appropriate educational and therapy goals. Assists childcare staff in integrating goals included in their IFSP or IEP.
  6. Collaborates with the World of Care Program Director and other members of the management team to outline and achieve annual program goals.
  7. Provides professional early childhood education services utilizing all elements of the child care process (i.e. intake, assessment, intervention, documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration).
  8. Relays information about center matters, professional development opportunities, and other community events to keep staff informed of agency-related activities. Oversees child care equipment and supply purchases, maintains costs within budget parameters and keeps all appropriate records.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Child Life, Early Childhood Education, special education or related field is required. Masters’ Degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have at least 4 years of experience providing direct care services to children. Experience working with children with complex medical needs preferred.
  • Must have at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
