The Program Aide staff will support the teachers who serve a varied population of students with disabilities. The staff member assists with the implementation of the program as outlined in the IEP of each student. This staff member assists with adapting instruction that meets the individual academic, medical, developmental, and technological needs of the students. In accordance with the classroom assignment, this individual will provide 1:1 supervision and instruction to students in the classroom and during off-campus community-based instruction.
The Montgomery County campus of Kennedy Krieger School serves students in grades 2-8 who are working toward a high school diploma, and students aged 7-21 who are seeking a certificate of completion.
While the program extends preference to students from Montgomery County, it also accepts referrals of students from other jurisdictions.
By the end of the employee’s initial evaluation period, every individual must meet “No Child Left Behind” Legislation standards for highly qualified staff as defined as any one of the following: 1.) possession of an AA Degree, or 2.) completion of two years of college equivalence (minimum 48 credits), or 3.) a passing score on the state exam for highly qualified staff.
Previous experience working with children with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
