Kennedy Krieger Institute is currently recruiting for a Child Psychologist to provide outpatient mental health services to children and families. Located in Baltimore, the position is in the Psychiatric Mental Health Program (PMHP). The Psychiatric Mental Health Program (PMHP) is a multidisciplinary treatment program focused on the needs of children with complex psychiatric, developmental and medical conditions. Among the challenges the children face are anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety and phobias), mood disorders (including Depression, DMDD and Bipolar disorder), externalizing disorders (including ADHD, oppositional behavior, and conduct problems), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and tic disorders. Many children also experience developmental disorders or chronic medical conditions.
The successful candidate will have a passion for working with children and families in an urban setting. The psychologist will also embrace being part of a multidisciplinary team, which includes social workers, psychiatrists, and nurse practitioners to enhance assessment and treatment. Psychologists also frequently consult with school staff and other professionals inside and outside of the Institute to achieve maximum progress in treatment. Evidence based assessment and treatment is strongly supported.
the Psychologist I will maintain a clinical caseload including individual and family psychotherapy, diagnostic assessments, parent training, and, counseling in child development and behavior management. The Psychologist will administer and score psychological tests, assist parents or caregivers in advocating for their children’s needs in the community. Primary clinical responsibilities will be for individuals aged 5 years through young adulthood.
Psychologists receive a competitive pay and benefit package that includes a sign-on bonus, training allowances, health insurance, as well as a host of other benefits. Psychologists are encouraged to pursue their American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) credential and receive support in completing this. Psychologists are credentialed as medical staff at Kennedy Krieger Institute and may pursue faculty appointment through Johns Hopkins.
Minimum 1 year experience in working with a population of children, both with and without intellectual/neurodevelopmental disabilities, and/or psychiatric disorders. This experience may be satisfied through postdoctoral training in psychology.
